Video examples

Below, are the previous college projects I have worked on and I have given a brief synopsis of each video as well as my role on the project.

Documentary

Role: Producer

Our documentary, Dyspraxia: the other side of the spectrum, follows our presenter, Kraig, as he tries to inform the audience about dyspraxia through research and the interviews he carries out with Tess, a specialist who helps students with dyspraxia and James, a student who has dyspraxia. This was a difficult first project to complete but it was also a helpful project as it taught me the conventions of film making.

Film trailer

Role: Director

Our trailer is for a crime thriller film that follows the story of Mark, who is falsely accused of murder and then goes out on revenge for the people who framed him. I enjoyed this project more because we were able to be more creative and I was happy with the final outcome of the trailer.

Music video

Role: Producer, Co-editor

Our music video is for the song Fireflies by Owl City and it follows the story of a teenager who wakes up in a dream world where he encounters a mysterious character and he travels through the dream world and befriends the person he was once afraid of. This was my favourite project throughout the first year of the course because there was a lot more we experimented with in terms of filming and editing and this allowed me to improve on my editing skills where I had previously has weaker editing skills.

TV advert

Role: Co-producer, Co-DOP

Our TV advert was a humorous advert that promoted Spotify and how it made a better day for three miserable people. This was a good project to start the year with because it helped us refresh our memories with and it also about making videos within a time frame which gave us experience about limiting content and showing what is important within our videos.

Client brief

Role: director

For this project, we worked with Visit Somerset to produce them a video that would promote local accommodation within the county of Somerset and for it to appeal to Millennials. I enjoyed this project because we went to various locations and captured stunning shots for our promotional video but I did find it difficult including everything that the client wanted in the video.

Animation project
Role: Co-camera operator

This was a short video to be completed in our animation workshop lessons and my group created a stop motion project that paid homage to Alfred Hitchcock films. This was a creative project that was unique as I had never done a animation video before and this allowed me to gain animation skills which we can use in future projects.

Multi camera
Role: Director
In this project, we had to create our own multi camera show which was called "Light, Camera, Action!" and this was a film themed game show. There were multiple tasks to carry out for the show which included creating the set, finding contestants, creating questions for each round as well as completing a live recording of the show and I think that this has been the most challenging project I have worked on so far.
